I bought this HealthMate Plus Jr for our home office, as we both are on the computer quite a bit. My wife is a smoker, we have a woodstove and 3 dogs. We plugged it in and on occasion vacuum the vents. The noise on medium is not offensive in the least, and draws all smoke directly into the unit. The Austin Air is certainly the best of all the units we've had.

This HealthMate Plus Jr air purifier sits in the bedroom. It produces a background sound on HIGH that is amazingly conducive to sleep. On low, you can barely hear it. The air is cleaner, we no longer sneeze waking up, and I don't need to dust as often. One of my main reasons for buying this air purifier was that it has a maintenance free HEPA filter. The HealthMate Plus Jr is compact and strong enough to keep the room fresh and clean. I am very satisfied with my purchase and would highly recommend this air purifier.

My HealthMate Plus Jr. noise level is acceptable to me, in an 8x10 room. I typically have it on LOW. It sounds like a fan on low speed. If I have a bad smell or lots of dust floating around I will put it on HIGH. It is a bit loud but most of the time I will push it down to low again. But most importantly, no more chemical smell!
