"The potential health benefits of improving bedroom air quality, particularly when people are reclining in bed, are often overlooked. Right now, the National Sleep Foundation Bedroom Machine by Austin Air air purifier is being used in several studies to advance the science of sleep and air quality." It has been selected for use in a new Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health study on asthma and bedroom air quality and a number of University of Buffalo studies on environment and asthma. The National Sleep Foundation Bedroom Machine by Austin Air has been built to meet the requirements set out by the John Hopkins University Medical School of Public Health to promote clean air for healthy sleep.
The National Sleep Foundation Bedroom Machine by Austin Air bedroom air purifier draws in air from all four sides of the unit, passes through five stages of purification, and circulates at 400 cfm when the unit is set on high. Each phase is specifically designed to remove the many and complex nano size particles and gases that keep you up at night.
The stages are:
STAGE 1 - Large Particle Pre-filter
- Removes particles easily seen by the naked eye (e.g.dust, hair and pet dander)
STAGE 2 - Medium Particle Pre-filter
- Removes small to medium size particles (e.g.molds, spores and pollen)
STAGE 3 - 15 lbs.of Proprietary Carbon Blend
- Removes chemicals, gases and odors (e.g., wood smoke, benzene, formaldehyde, sulfuric acid and ammonia)
STAGE 4 - 60 sq.ft.of Certified HEPA
- Removes 99.97% of all particles larger than 0.3 microns

My husband has always had trouble sleeping at every night because of the dust and allergens in our house. He was always up in the middle of the night and complained that he could not breathe. So we went looking for a bedroom air purifier. We got the Bedroom Machine, put it in the bedroom and have been running it on low ever since. What a turnaround! Now he's sleeping through the night and I am also sleeping better. My husband does not wake me up and I think I am sleeping better because our air is actually cleaner! We both have noticed that we do not have any smell lingering in the bedroom anymore.Price Value Quality
The bedroom machine filter is very easy to clean. Just go to the vents on the sides and vacuum it out. I definitely recommend getting one of these bedroom air purifiers. I also plan to get an Austin Air for the living room.

There is already an air quality difference between the bedroom and the living room. Our bedroom had a musty winter odor before, now its smells super clean with the bedroom machine! I also could see that there was less cat hair on my comforter. My husband is a smoker and didn't realize how bad the smoke smell was until I woke up this morning and went to the living room. What a smell! I went back into the bedroom and sure enough, it smelled great. What a substantial difference between the rooms.Price Value Quality

In a bedroom, our Austin Air is amazingly quiet on the low. The medium setting makes the same noise as the low setting on the old air purifier it replaced. Since the Bedroom Machine’s HEPA filter only needs replacement every five years, the savings of not having to replace the older style fixed pre-filter/HEPA combo is a huge bonus! I have only had this bedroom air purifier for less than a week, but I am amazed at the results. After sleeping great through the first night of using the Bedroom Machine, My nose is normally clogged in the morning, but I woke up and could actually breathe!. Strange, my dog has had watery eyes for a while and has been having a runny nose over the past month or so. Recently, I happened to look at her eyes and they were not wet and her nose wasn't running. Today, I am buying the HealthMate Plus for our living room. I hope that with this air purifier, both me and my dog will be as comfortable in the day as the Bedroom Machine makes us at night!Price Value Quality
