The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has identified the Louisiana coastal areas of Venice and Grand Isle as air quality monitoring sites that have elevated pollutants in the air. The EPA has found increased levels of ozone and particulates that raise the EPA Air Quality Index from "good" to "unhealthy for sensitive groups." This means the EPA recommends that chemically sensitive people should avoid prolonged and heavy exertion. These locations are just 50 miles from the oil spill wellhead.
The EPA offers little definition on airborne contaminants. They did not link the reduced air quality to the BP oil spill, crude oil[...]

Health Effects From Aging Crude Oil In The Gulf
By now, many of us have heard that the Gulf crude oil emits Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) including Benzene, a known cancer causing carcinogenic. When the oil hits the seawater surface, it begins to evaporate. Studies show that concentrations within these vapors as small as five parts per million can get you sick and endanger your health. Cleanup crew members have been reporting feeling sick from the fumes. Symptoms include nausea, headaches, and light-headedness similar to a flu. This is the body reacting to the toxins in the air.
What happens after the evaporation is over and crude oil begins to[...]

What Happens if a Hurricane Hits the Gulf Oil Spill?
There is a growing debate on what will happen if a hurricane passes through the Gulf oil spill this season. A storm may push parts of the oil slick, spreading into larger concentrations in certain areas. More toxic concentrations of oil means more hazardous toxins such as Benzene and other Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) will be emitted, polluting the air quality. These greater oil concentrations will also permeate the land and influence, retard, or destroy life in the area. On the other hand, there is the chance a hurricane could break the oil into lesser concentrations, helping to clean the[...]

Gulf Air Toxic to the Baby's Nursery
Toxic air is invading the Alabama and Florida shores. Scientists that have been monitoring the air quality are now seeing contamination levels as much as 100 times higher than acceptable. Prepare and use an air purifier to cleanse the nursery of these toxins. Don't wait until you experience contamination illnesses like the oil slick worker cleanup crews.
Concentrate on Your Baby's Nursery
The baby's room is a sanctuary. A nursery is a place where your baby sleeps and should be safe from airborne contamination. Why? Because babies, like the elderly, are more vulnerable to airborne contamination much more so than the[...]

Gulf Oil Spill Fumes Making Cleanup Workers Sick
Workers cleaning the crude oil from the waters and shores of the Gulf of Mexico are beginning to become sick from the fumes. These workers and those living in or around the region need to take safety precautions and use an OSHA compliant face mask to purify their air. When indoors on a boat, home or office, a high quality air purifier should always be running, cleansing out the airborne contaminants from the crude oil fumes, smoke and other polluting particulates. These actions will reduce your health risks.
