A recent asthma study appeared in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health found that with various types of pollution exposure over years, asthma can become more and more uncontrolled.
About 500 asthma suffering adults from five French cities provided researchers with their region specific history of respiratory health. The information was organized around exposure levels from three types of air pollution -- ozone (O3), nitrous oxide (NO2) and particulate matter (PM10).
The study found that asthma suffers, when exposed long-term to higher levels of ozone and particulate matter, are much more likely to experience poorer asthma control. With long-term ozone exposure[...]

Formaldehyde Exposure Dangers
Austin Air Purifiers Can Help
You and your daughter go to your local hair salon. What's the problem? You may be at risk because of formaldehyde gas exposure emitted from salon products. Hair salon product manufactures are largely ignoring the problem when there is clear evidence that, when inhaled, this toxic gas can be a danger to hair salon workers and their customers. Sometimes, a very serious danger. How about your daughter's health? New studies are confirming direct links between formaldehyde exposure and asthma in children.

The Asthma Connection To Allergies
With the allergy season upon us, allergy sufferers will need to take extra precautions to avoid the airborne allergens by removing them with air purifiers. Pollen from plants, trees and flowers begin getting airborne and when inhaled, irritate our noses, gives headaches, and creates watery eyes, along with a whole host of other health problems. But did you know, just like allergy suffers, asthma suffers react to pollen and the other allergens in the air?
Dr. David Skoner, Pediatric Allegist Immunologist provides us with insight into why asthma sufferers can also suffer as much as allergy sufferers this time of year[...]

What are Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)?
Harmful Without Air Filtration
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are carbon-based organic compounds that emit harmful chemical gases. These gases are all around us when there is no air filtration. Nail polish, household cleaners, paints, varnishes, furniture and rugs all release chemical vapors. They can make you feel run-down and tired. You can get cold or flu-like symptoms from these gases. Some of these VOCs can even cause cancer. Those of us that are most susceptible are people with pre-existing conditions, the elderly, and the young. Weakened by these gases, our health risks increase for asthma and other illness.
The following is a[...]

May is Asthma Awareness Month
May is the time of year that the US Environmental Protection Agency highlights asthma. They remind us that asthma is a serious health problem affecting many.
Who Is Effected?
It has been reported that over 22 million people have asthma. Lower income families, African Americans and Hispanics experience a higher rate of asthma. Over 2 million asthma sufferers will have an emergency visit with a doctor or hospital. There could be as many as 12 million who will seek normal treatment. Asthma is considered to be one of the most common childhood chronic diseases. In fact, the third highest cause of illness[...]
